This pincushion portrays yet another use for the size 20 variegated yellow/white Coates Mercer crochet cotton.
The tatting pattern was derived and amended from a very old DMC Corporation Tatting for today publication.
The pincushion itself was made from rolled up strips of material and then covered in black velvet.

Oh, I know what pattern you speak of! I have that old book, too!
ReplyDeleteI still have to make the pincushion for it and I believe I tatted up the actual pattern about 5 years ago, LOL! Nice job!

Hi Vanessa,
ReplyDeleteYour pincushion is very attractive and expertly tatted and put together! Love the colors.
It's very tricky for me to keep those long 'threads' evenly spaced between rings when using one shuttle, and you've done them very well here.
I believe my "Tatting for Today" book dates back to the 1980s. Is that the book you're referring to? (I guess I don't think of it as "old", because it seems like yesterday that I bought in around 1990, and thought it was quite 'modern' LOL!)
I can't believe you've been tatting only since early 2009! I look forward to seeing more of your work. You're definitely off to a great start!
Love the pincushion! I've wanted to make one similar to that for awhile and just never done it - maybe this will get me motivated. It looks great!
